WATER

A Documentary for the charity Water.org

We made a documentary that shows a single life before and after access to clean water, simultaneously, in the same frame.

Created for Stella Artois' Buy A Lady A Drink campaign, which provides five years of clean water access to those who need it. The film launched at the 2016 Sundance Film Festival with Mother London and Water.org. We spent six days in Honduras, where Water.org has been working since 1990 to bring safe water to rural communities. Our split-screen technique places two lives side by side within the same frame: life before water access on one side, life after on the other. Women and children spend 125 million hours a day collecting water from contaminated sources. The film makes that contrast visceral and immediate. Drone footage, difficult to get to a location as remote as rural Honduras during rainy season, gives viewers a sense of the distances families once had to travel. The edit moves slowly, giving viewers space to look around and take in each scene.
