ROK VR

A WebVR Fairy Tale

The myth of Rok originated in Indian and Persian culture, and was used as a bedtime story to keep children inside.

We combined live-action 360 drone footage with a 3d CGI crow, and light puzzle-solving ideas to bring this project to life. Winner of the Digital Design Award of the Month.

The VR experience brings Rok to life as players try and progress through a mystical world by casting runes using the Google Daydream remote, unknowingly taking themselves closer to meet Rok – a foe not a friend.

VR is an immersive experience on its own but working with Simon Callow to narrate the story brought an added sense of authenticity and gravitas to the experience, the well known voice of the actor creating a counter to the otherworldly visual landscapes and soundtrack.

The goal of Rok is to complete 'runes', a series of geometric challenges, as Rok explores the dark landscape.

This project was a highly technical challenge, most of all. Combining cinematic VR with 3d character animation and experimental game mechanics is a huge head-twister.
