A virtual forensic investigation
Can you gather the right evidence to solve the crime? A forensic crime scene manager will guide you through the process – from examining the body to avoiding DNA contamination.
This interactive experience allow you to learn how to gather evidence, under the guidance from a senior officer, and make crucial decisions that might impact this case during trial. You learn to gather evidence from a crime scene, as well as what the implications of that evidence might be later during a trial.
You also process the body itself, looking for fibers or any other information that may help find the perpetrator.
You then present all of your evidence to a superior officer, who gives you feedback.
Finally, the details of the actual crime are revealed, so you can compare your conclusions with what really happened.
The project was created by The Guardian VR team, and Nicola Davis, the Guardian’s science reporter, who interviewed forensic experts, including specialists in bloodstain pattern analysis, soil and digital forensics. Crime Scene won Best Immersive Game Award at the VR Awards.
Nicole Jackson is the Head of audio at the Guardian. She specializes in general assignment news, government and politics. She also covers culture and society topics, and climate change.
